CLUB LOLLIPOP @ KRAKEN CON 2014 TALENT SHOW
My girls and I headed up to Oakland, CA last Sunday (October 5, 2014) to solely compete at the first Talent Show of the second-ever Kraken Con! I literally just saw the ad of this convention on facebook and checked its location & date before I immediately told my girls that we were doing it. They haven't even announced that there was a dance contest or anything, I was already set on going the moment they were to announce it.
|CLUB LOLLIPOP @ KRAKEN CON 2014 TALENT SHOW|
Top: Andrea (aka Bee/ ME!) as Achan or Atsudo Maeda, Maricruz as Marinrin or Mariko Shinoda, Gabby as Takamina or Takahashi Minami, & Dioselene as Yuko Oshima.
Bottom: Maggie as Mayuyu Watanabe & Angela as Haruna Kojima
We may have already performed AKB48's Beginner, but we somehow always perform it in different numbers. Our original MV started out with 7 girls. In Anime Expo 2014, we were four girls and, in J-Pop Summit Festival's "ODOTTEMITA" dance contest, we were 5 girls. For Kraken Con 2014, we have 6 girls! And that's the beauty of our group, we're flexible and make adjustments to acommodate who can & can't perform at events. And in addition to the fact we worked hard to perfect this song, the song and choreography is one of the best from AKB48! I, personally, don't want it to go to waste. Besides, it's a new crowd! They've never seen CLUB LOLLIPOP work it on stage before until we got on it!
The crowd was slightly quiet for the other acts, but they were pretty loud cheering for us when we performed. No one knows what we were about to perform. Even during our sound check, all that was played was the three beats before the actual song goes on. So, not even our competition knows what we had in store. You can tell that as soon as Takamina's part plays, people were starting to remember the song and by the time the music played, they knew what song it is! Haha. The crowd was great for us. They cheered us on even at our posing parts. We initially intend to go all out anyways, but it made us even want to go harder! And, by the way, WE WOOOOOOOON! Yup! We got first place! WOOT WOOT!
We had so much fun performing! We intend to come back soon!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CHEERED US ON & COMPLIMENTED US AFTERWARDS!
A big percentage of my girls were not born-dancers & I, honestly, didn't know what to do when I first met them in dance club. But, they were so hardworking that they improved so much! I'm so proud of how far they've gone!
And due to high demand, we officially have a facebook page:
This should make contacting/finding our group easier ^^
I will also put up a blog post & vlog on my Kraken Con 2014 experience soon.
