DIR EN GREY in SAN FRANCISCO 2015

Hello everyone. If you follow me on instagram, you would have probably seen that I have been to a rock concert recently! But this isn't just a rock concert, it was a Japanese rock concert by the famous Dir En Grey! I have a compiled into a vlog the videos I took and I have also a couple pictures during the concert here. If you want to know how my experience was, keep reading!

Quick history...
My sister and I found out about them 2 years ago and despite not knowing them fully, we went to their concert in San Francisco then. After the concert, we were sure smitten by them! Even if I wasn't I hardcore rocker, I appreciate the talent and music! My sister, most especially, became a super fan and as soon as they announced another concert in SF, we were sure to go! Unfortunately, she was the only one to get vip because I thought I was going to be "working" that night at the concert. So when it was confirmed that I will not be covering the concert, it was too late for vip tickets.

Getting there...
Anyways, two of our friends came along and the three of us were regular admission. We arrived at 3PM and there wasn't a long line, but it was sunny... so thank goodness we had that one umbrella! You can see that the bus was parked right in front of the venue and it turns out the members have been inside the whole time we were lined up outside! I think I was able to say hi to Die because he smiled when I was waving at him.... hehe.

On to the concert...
If you thought you were squished at the start, that was nothing compared to when the band started the show. Yes, I know that it is a rock concert... but is it necessary to push people for fun when you know we are all sardines there? When is it acceptable to shove people around in a place that tight? Or is it really okay to punch or pull people's hair intentionally? Like why not enjoy the concert without any intentional infliction of harm to the people around you????? My friends and I were in between the crowd and right at the middle, so we experience a lot of the crazyness... people trying to pull us apart to get a better view. Fortunately, Jimmy & I are pretty strong... so Hugo latched on and stayed in place. But boy, was it hard! It was also sooo hot! We were all sweating while everyone's body was pasted onto someone else's. Jimmy is 6 foot 2... but somehow an even taller guy ended up in front of him and blocked his view pretty well, haha! I admire the passion the fans had, but is playing nice that hard? By the way, the venue was small, which is good in a way that it felt like the band was so close...yet bad, as I said... being like sweaty sardines. They also didn't have the backdrop they use for visuals and they lacked lighting which made it hard to see the other members asides from Kyo.

The band...
I feel like they were smoother than ever! So much charisma! I loooove it! I know that Kyo really hates it when fans use flash photography, but even when the person kept flashing him with her phone, he didn't wince like before and kept performing like a super star. They made up for the crazy passionate crowd and the lack of visuals. Mind you, Toshiya is such a crowd favorite that I feel bad for the rest... I screamed for Kaoru for sure! Did you know his finger are going numb from playing the guitar too much? We saw the pick taped to his thumb! :( Also, for a small guy, Shinya is sooo powerful on the drums! So cool!

At the end of the concert and after Die threw something my way, I took out my phone to illuminate the ground and I saw this by my feet. And as soon as I did that, my foot claimed the pick... and other people started grabbing onto my foot to move it aside! Umm, rude much? I had to bend down and officially claim it right then and there, even though one should wait till the end of the concert to do so. Jimmy was reaching out for a shirt and missed... but when he looked down it was resting on his thigh, so he had a free shirt just his size that night!

I had fun all in all! It was nice to finally see the people I keep reporting about again! I actually interviewed Shinya at Anime Expo and watch him strut at the runway, but that post has yet to publish. Be on a look out for that because there's going to be a giveaway consisting of his autograph!
