Solvang: A Little Danish City in California

Solvang, California
Over the past weekend, my family & I went down to a little Danish city down south called Solvang. We were touring our aunts who are visiting us from the Philippines, but this ended up as an experience for myself also... it's my first time there! My parents actually visited this place three years ago during my vacation in the Philippines for their anniversary.

Solvang (Danish for 'sunny field') is a beautiful little city nestled in the Santa Ynez Valley of California. Founded in 1911 by a small group of Danish teachers, Solvang now is a diverse, modern city, with fine restaurants, lovely shops and outstanding activities to enchant young and old alike. There are Danish festivals, quiet tree lined streets, horse drawn wagons, Hans Christian Andersen Park, windmills, Danish pastries and dozens of quaint shops to explore. Solvang was incorporated as a city on May 1, 1985 and now has a population of approximately 5,385.

Here's our afternoon in this pretty place and my attempt to use my dslr!
Yup, I tried not to be lazy this time, haha!

And we ended up having afternoon tea here!
This place gets really crowded... it must the cute decorations, welcoming staff, and the yummy food & tea. My parents led everyone here because they had their date here from before, too. Big thumbs up for this bakery! The Napoleon (as pictured above) was delicious and paired well with tea. Gabby had hot tea while I had mine with ice. If you plan on coming to Solvang, you can rest up and enjoy some treats with tea here!

The place was full of tourists and wedding parties (a lot of 'JUST MARRIED' signs on cars)! This reminded me of our very own Cannery Row in Monterey whith of course a Danish theme instead. I definitely felt like I just visited Denmark! The place itself is very inviting to tourists considering the ambiance and the free public parking! There's a lot of sights to see and food to enjoy here! By the way, it gets confusing if this place is Dutch (Netherlands) or Danish (Denmark) due to the different check-in options on social media, but as their website says, this place is Danish.

Okay, so let me share with you all why I've suddenly become so busy to blog just this past summer!

Travel Tuesdays: Carmel Beach with Fairy Ladies.

Weeks ago, my little sister needed to have some filming done for a contest by the sea. Our choice? The beautiful Carmel Beach! At the same time, we were in need of bonding time with our new buddies from the Puck'd play! We've stuck together until the name Fairy Ladies sunk in. We even did the talent show together as I posted in my last post. Anyways, it was a really fun and refreshing day with pizza & smores!  By the way, I am wearing white shorts paired with my Mr. Aquinian shirt I got from my Alma Matter, Aquinas University of Legazpi. The Ms. Aquinian shirts were too small for my taste. LOL.

And oh, the last thing we did before leaving is dance out Fairy-Raver Dance!
Check it out!
Yup, we did this while there were a lot of people (not shown) around!
And my little cousin Kat-Kat was holding the music for us while we danced.. I had to put music over it for the video since the waves were too loud!

I'll share with you all the project my little sis and I worked on that day soon!
Anyways, I'm hoping this new found friendship will last... please! HAHA.

Travel Tuesdays: Point Lobos State Reserve.

Following the leader!

Last Palm Sunday my family and I decided to hike at the beautiful Point Lobos. It consists of hiking trails, many beaches, and purely wonderful sights! It was a day of exercise, serenity, and bonding. Because of time constraint and the place is so big we only got to go a few parts of it. We are so lucky to have this so near to where we live, we can definitely visit again... Spring is upon us! It's a great time to be outdoors after the cold dreary winter!

Oh yeah, I vlogged on that day... Check it out to see more sights!
