FORT ORD DUNES STATE PARK

     If you've seen my COR SURF Waterproof Backpack post, I'm pretty sure you'll have read it was my first time checking out Fort Ord Dunes State Park! Jimmy & I were running out of time to find a good place to shoot for my blog, so I looked up lists of best beaches or hike spots, and this appeared to be one of the closest ones. It is located in Marina, CA and have never thought this place existed. I'm sure glad the pressure was on... so we ended up visiting somewhere new!      It was a bit of a drive getting here... not because it was far, but because it was quite hidden! Thank goodness for GPS... my inner adventurer has awoken! I was amazed even though we were by the parking lot... so much beauty already! There are trails where you can bike, walk or jog through, but I ended up choosing the beach. And they weren't kidding about the sand dunes, the hills you see are pretty much all sand! We attempted to hike it up and, believe it or not, I did a better job compared to Jimmy (yay, leg power!). The beach itself was so peaceful and beautiful. We are in Central Coast California, though, so it's TOO COLD to swim. Besides, you probably can't tell but the waves are massive and scary! It's a nice place for us to chill and, apparently, fish & get a tan. I'm glad I live so close to the Pacific Ocean! Hopefully I go visit new places and share it on the next Travel Tuesday posts!
